What’s routine?
“Routine, in an intelligent man, is a sign of ambition.”
– W. H. Auden
The surest way to discipline passion is to discipline time:
“decide what you want or ought to do during the day, then always do it at exactly the same moment every day, and passion will give you no trouble.”
As I continue going after the life I want, I have to make sure that every little moment of my life is counted.
Weekly scheduling, would keep you inspired, your work in check, align your life with your goals, and lastly keep you inspired, together, and productive.
After weeks of haphazard, I have ultimately come up with a strategy, which incorporates three key issues, which need to be addressed, the the most productive week ever.
3 TIPS TO CONQUER A WEEK
S3 STRATEGY = STRETCH – SUBJECTS – SORTS
I. STRETCH OF TIME ?
CATEGORISE WEEK
A week does consists of seven days, which seems same but doesn’t feel the same for obvious reasons. Everyday has it’s own essence and therefore can not be bound in the very routine of scheduling. But, the most convenient and efficient way of planning is to bifurcated a week into; weekdays and weekend.
a) WEEK DAYS
Undoubtedly, our weekdays are jam packed with duties, obligations, tasks, commitments, and never the less than chaos especially when it is not planned most probably.
The best way of planning weekdays, is by firstly knowing the subject of your plan, which could be further allocated for the whole concept of planning.
Once you acknowledge the subjects of your planning, you are only left with, the selection of the sort of planning, it requires to draw a schedule.
b) WEEK END
To extract to the fullest from week days planning schedule, you could go for a ‘brain dump page’ for the weekend.
Brain dump is an uncritical expression of your random thoughts, tasks and tidbit information that happen in the course of a day.
In simple words:
A brain dump is a simple technique to help you declutter your mind and thoughts. https://diaryofajournalplanner.com/brain-dump/
This planning is a sort of free-floating process of jotting down anything and everything that is in your mind.
Letting out, will reduce stress, and even help you to keep in check, the tiny tasks which you keep on procrastinating.
II. SUBJECT OF PLANNING?
To come up with the subject of your weekly plan you have to categorise, the activities which you perform in a day.
I prefer categorising my day in the activities, which define me, build me and assure my existence.
a) ACTIVITIES, WHICH DEFINE YOU (WORK)
The role you play in your life towards yourself and everything that serves your purpose, defines you the best.
Being a blogger and a law persuer’s, my blogs are sheer product of immense reading, which define me.
b) ACTIVITIES, WHICH BUILD YOU (LEARNINGS)
Despite of the fact, that you are doing good with your job already, there is always space for improvement.
One should never hamper it’s source of learning. Take time to upgrade your version now and then.
Whether I am writting a blog post or drafting law outlines, I had to undergo a precised research work for both, which actually builds my learning habit.
c) ACTIVITIES, WHICH LET YOU EXIST (PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT)
Whatsoever you do with your life, being mindful , headstrong, decisive is something which helps you breakthrough in your life.
To experience the breakthrough in your life, you could do everything, which would help you development personally.
Most of times, my personal development activities are all about reading and mental peace stuff, or any motivational trigger to inspire myself.
III. SORTS OF PLANNING?
You can plan anything anyhow, but it could become more efficient for you, to choose one from below:
a) CALENDAR (TIME) BLOCKING
A task is on a list, but a list is good for nothing until the task is on the calendar and is an appointment, to be made by you.
By the time, your task is on the calendar, it becomes something, you are going to show up do because now you have prioritised it.
Gisp of time management is:
– add all the tasks in a to-do list
– select specific time slots for the tasks
– work on the tasks according to time blocks.
The real task is to turn your tasks into time slots, which is actually calendar blocking. You could plan with your calendar blocking, incorporating time slots to your bullet journal.
For the best results for the calendar blocking, you should try it on a digital calendar.
Digital calendars, would give you an overview, of how much time you are allotting to which task.
Moreover, digital calendars are way more time saving than any other form of planning, you could think of.
b) BULLET JOURNALING
Bullet journaling, is a method of organizing oneself. This system includes, to-do lists, reminders and even schedulings.
A task when assigned, to each of the slot in your schedule, it becomes bullet journaling.
It’s a very useful way to see, at a glance, whether you are performing, all that matters to you.
Here, you can even schedule your tasks, in order to maintain a morning and evening routine.
If you are someone like me, the one with selfimposing perfectionism attitude, this bullet journal sort of planning is just not for you.
Bullet journaling could provide you with efficiency but not with perfection, which is totally fine.
CLOSE WEEKLY SCHEDULE OFF WITH WEEKLY REFLECTION
Here comes the result card. A work is never complete, until you check how you performed?
For a weekly reflection, you could ask yourself some questions regarding what matters to you, to take you back on track.
Most of the times, I have a same list of questions, about-
– How much I learnt?
– How healthy I have been?
– How much I have been productive?
– How I fell for unproductivity?
– How which, it’ll take me to raise the bar?
HAPPY WEEKLY SCHEDULING!
Great tips/suggestions! I do practice some of these.
